Day 11: Thinspiration

I’m halfway through week 2 and things are going well. I’m yet to fall off the wagon (with the exception of the occasional – and I do mean occasional Diet Coke/ Pepsi Max (speaking as someone who used to drink 2L a day))

One thing I have always been bummed out by, being so fat, is clothes shopping. I’m sure that’s a familiar feeling amongst all larger people. It’s not just trying to find somewhere that sells clothes that fit you. It’s then having to pay a high premium on something that is in the “plus size category”, while the same item, say a plain t-shirt can is a bargain just a few sizes smaller, sometimes in the same shop.

Not only that, but I like funky things, underwear, bras and t-shirts in particular, but they are never big enough. Whether in be a t-shirt from a TV show or a cool bra with multicoloured dots. I’m always disappointed the X’s are a long stretch from wrapping all the way round me.

With this in mind, I went on eBay and bought a thinspiration t-shirt. I’m a big fan of the cartoon Rick and Morty and would normally never be able to get a top that fits. And it doesn’t. By quite a way. I mean I can’t even get my arms in it, let alone over my head. But, for the first time in my life, I truly believe that I will. And by the end of the year too.

I’ve made the mistake before of buying clothes a couple of sizes too small and promising myself I’ll slim into them, knowing full well it’s halfhearted at best and an outright lie at worst. So I was sure to empty my wardrobe of everything except those things that actually fit me and fit me properly, and when they are too big they will binned or donated just like everything else was.
